Kendall Wanderers 'C' 3 - 1 Coastal United

The C's started their season off strong with a dominant 3-1 win over Coastal United on Saturday. The conditions were pretty windy but far better than the gale-force winds experienced during the Cup game last weekend.

Kendall came out of the gate with tenacity and dominant possession. The squad, comprised of many return players and some new talent, created a few opportunities but was unable to capitalize on any. Coastal United broke the stalemate first with a long goal kick carried by the wind that threw off the Kendall defense. A bit of miscommunication between the keeper and the back four created a hard-to-miss opportunity for the Coastal forward and he put it away to go ahead 1-0. Before the half was over, newcomer David Kim put away the equalizer off a pass from Pete Kerr after Pete won the ball off a Coastal defender.

The second half started strong for Kendall with an early two goals by Pete Kerr and David Kim again. Pete scored a nice finish off (assisted by David) from about the 18-yard line. David, off another pass from Pete, ripped a shot to the far post that managed to hit both posts before going in.

Despite some sloppy pressure during the second half, the Kendall defense and midfield, with help from Steve Gage in net, held off any remaining attempts from Coastal. The team played quite well together today and hope to continue the trend as the season moves forward
