Kendall C arrived in Lancaster hoping to put the disappointment of the opening weeks defeat to Analog behind them and get their first points of the season. Facing them were a formidable Sports Identity side that had dropped down from Division 1 and were expected to challenge for Division 2 honors this year. Damp and windy conditions greeted the players at Lancaster - it was hoped that at least the Irish lads would be used of these conditions and would make that count!

Kendall C lined up with a few changes from the first game, Matt and Jeff forming a new center half partnership and Mike and Danny a new central midfield. Allan Sweeney led the attack, still reveling in a 100% strike rate for the Kendall, while Donal added the experience to the side playing in behind him.

After an extended warm-up the game kicked off, with Kendall passing the ball around well and controlling the early play. However Sports Identity started to impose themselves on the game and started to press into the Kendall half. Their early chances were limited to long range efforts, but the signs were worrying as the C's struggled to resume their passing game and SI's dominance made a goal look ominous. Kendall did respond with some bright moments threatening on the break notably with Allan turning their defense, running directly at goal and unlucky to see the subsequent shot blocked. Mike T also had an effort from the edge of the box go wide after a good move up the right wing. The C's defense started to dominate the Sports Identity attacks as the half went on and the C's began to regain possession more as a result. The first round of subs injected some more energy into the side, with Andy Bourke coming into midfield after a long layoff. However SI delivered the sucker punch just before half time when they found space on the edge of the box and fired a looping shot through a group of players, deceiving Deano going past him at the far corner of the goal.

Half time came and a brief but effective motivating speech from Deano and Keano put a bit of fire back into the C's, reminding them that at 1-0 they were still very much in the game. The initial exchanges of the second half were much better with the C's showing more urgency and willingness to win the ball. However SI again got the lucky break when a long range strike came off the post, rebounding off Deanos back and in. Nevertheless, Kendall responded well switching the three at the back and taking the game to SI. Shakib and Seamus were getting more opportunities to press down the wings and Andy was looking dangerous up front. With most of the possession, Kendall set up camp in the SI half for the next 20 minutes looking for the breakthough. Andy saw a header skim the post and Danny saw a 20 yard strike rise inches above the top corner. Mike T also saw a strike straight at the keeper as waves of Kendall attack proved unfruitful. Finally in the last two minutes of the game SI broke from another Kendall attack. With numbers committed forward, Kendall were dealt the final blow as a squared cross was poked in from close range.

Disappointingly it ended 3-0, but aside from a few defensive mistakes the C's had given a good account for themselves. After playing the two teams currently at the top of the table the C's now have to make the next results count and get their season going.
