Kendall B continued their unbeaten league form with a much needed first win of the season against Boston Gunners. Temperatures were soring out in Framingham as the game kicked off, the Gunners only having 10 players gave the B's a great chance of coming away with the 3 points. Not having a recognized goalkeeper was a worry, but Fabrice stepped up to take responsibility. The offer of an unworn Van de Sar jersey was well received but he couldn't be convinced to wear the matching luminous yellow shorts.

To the game, and Kendall had the Gunners on the ropes from the get-go. An early chance came when birthday boy JK was inches away from tapping home Phil O Driscoll's low cross from the left. The early pressure paid off when Kendall forced the Gunners into conceding a corner from which Jesse powered in a header at the back post. Jesse had uncharacteristically spurned a 1:1 opportunity earlier in the game, but made no mistake this time.

The Gunners did have a chance to equalize with a shot from a rare counterattck. However, Fabrice was just about equal to the task with an unorthedox palm onto the crossbar that went to safety. In truth the B's were dominating all over the park with Dave Power and Dave Hughes bossing the midfield and setting up attacks at will with their intelligent passing.

The second goal wasn't long in coming for the Kendall B's. Jesse beat the offside trap to collect a lovely chipped ball into the box, chesting it into his path and volleying home with aplomb. Kendall finished off the half well, controlling the game and creating chances with Arjen the latest to go go close from a through ball from midfield.

2 up at half time, the B's were confident going into the second half with an extra man on the park. An early goal in the second half came when "the Dave's" in midfield combined to set Johnny Crowley free on goal. Crowley beared down on goal from the right, showing composure and technique as he guided the ball into the far corner. Kendall rang the changes, trying to get everybody a break. However, this contributed to some slack play through the middle as the B's struggled to find their earlier rythm. Gunners pulled a goal back when a long ball was somehow lobbed into the net on the volley by a surprised Gunners striker. This goal gave the Gunners the impotece and they grabbed a second after some weak defending in the middle.

The B's were on edge with tempers flaring as memories of the game against Harvard Medical surged back. Although their seemed to be acres of space to switch play when in posession, the B's seemed determined to ignore the width on offer. Towards the end, Kendall did regain a hold of the game and put things beyond doubt with a fourth. Dave Hughes played a ball to Phil O Driscoll who cut in past a few defenders before placing one into the corner from the edge of the box as the defence backed off.

Jesse suffered a head injury in the build up as he was caught with a stray elbow. Although slightly concussed, he remembered where he lived and we are confident he won't forget how to find the back of the net, with his goals proving decisive in the win. Some great signs of improvement from this new team, with plenty still to work for after the modest return of 6 points from 4 games.
